It is time to understand the Machines , where they operate autonomously without human intervention. Without any doubt, these days Artificial Intelligence is growing tremendously, very quickly and fast. As far as application is concern it is applying where Intelligence exists.
These days AI can be applied in various domains such as Robotics, Space Exploration, Machine Intelligence, Flying Cars, Self Driving Cars, Underwater, and complex domains, where humans cannot dig and work in harsh environments. The applications provided in this article all are applying to Machines. Working in Underwater and Other planets is not possible to humans, but AI is already achieved.
AI is applied from Underwater to Space Projects, so, Applications can be categorized as above the Earth, Lies in the Earth and below the Earth. I tried to explore the subjects with short introduction along with videos.
There are many applications need to cover but due to some other reasons I tried to cover only few and categorized into 3 different categories.
There has been already started in various disciplines/domains, the list is exhaustible. Specifically starting from Military, Agriculture, Shopping, Shipping, Deliver of Goods, Transportation, Communication, Banking, Healthcare / Medical, Space Related, and many more.
Especially, in software applications there are various Software Robots or Softbots exist in rich and unlimited domains.
It is necessary to know the power of AI applications and some of the above mentioned applications are in research and progress and others are available to us as of today. Applications need approval from the Nation Government to be used.
Space & Flying Applications: These applications are on the above the earth.
Starting with the biggest achievement in “Exploring the Universe” in Mars called “Mars Exploration Program” by NASA. They used Curiosity car sized rover designed to explore on Mars as part of NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. Curiosity launched on November 26, 2011, at 15:02 UTC.

The goal of the Mars Exploration Program is to explore Mars and to provide a continuous flow of scientific information and discovery through a carefully selected series of robotic orbiters, landers and mobile laboratories interconnected by a high-bandwidth Mars/Earth communications network.
It is one of the state of the art application and first on-board autonomous planing program to control the scheduling of operations for a spacecraft. It works on Remote Agent concept, which generated plans from high-level goals specified from the ground and monitored the execution of those plans-detecting, diagnosing, and recovering from problems as they occurred. These curiosity rovers will operate human hands and eyes on Mars, the robots are dependent almost entirely on human intelligence on Earth.
MAPGEN is a ground-based decision support system for MER mission operations. It is called a mixed initiative planner. It determines that the plan is within the bounds of the available resources onboard the rovers, and is free of any temporal violations.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in space exploration by Curiosity, it is totally a complex domain which has used various disciplines concepts from Telecommunications Network to Scientific instruments, Robotic arms, Navigation arms, etc., it has various components like ChemCam, MastCam, 6-Wheels,High-gain,Low-gain and UV Sensor.
AI and its sub fields not limited to machines, now they are applying to making engines (Rocket Engines) to be smart. University of Texas at Austin is developing new “scientific machine learning” to address the challenge. Scientific Machine Learning = Scientific Computing + Machine Learning, through a combination of Physics modeling and data-driven learning, finally it is possible to create reduced-order models.
Rocket Engines can be developed by using Reinforcement Learning , which interacts with Environments and get rewards. To simulate these new models we need new Simulator for Simulation task.
Reinforcement Learning Algorithms gives more accuracy.
There is huge research is going on using AI for Robot Pilots. Recent development on autonomous plane takes off with passengers,cargo.
The company, Xwing, has now performed numerous passenger-carrying autonomous take-off to landing flights in its modified Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, a first in aviation with this category of aircraft.
Advanced countries like Australia, America spending Millions of dollars for building Autonomous Air Craft Fighters. These Jet fighters carrying weapons, missiles, etc., in war.
It is a personal air vehicle or roadable aircraft that provides transportation road and air. These are also known as “hovecars”. It is capable of safe, reliable and environmentally-friendly operation both on public roads and in the air. It can fly without a qualified pilot at the controls. Recently Israel company designs two flying-car models CityHawk and Falcon XP.
There is huge development going on in military sector, ranging from warships, weapons, robots, missiles, air crafts, etc., Man made robots will participate instead of man in the war. There is a lot of research is going on .
Developed and Advanced countries like Australia, USA, South Korea, Russia, UK and China spending millions of dollars in Military for building autonomous machines. You can get complete picture of this in this article.
This section explores applications of Earth oriented, these applications changes our life style, as of now 2020 there are lot of applications available.
These days you can communicate with devices like Cells, Cars , Home Automation Systems etc., The best example is iPhone – Siri Application , where you can ask weather, news, searching in google, calling to contact numbers, google maps, etc., Siri will perform the user commands, for ex: The user gives the command and say “Search for Neuroscience in Google”, then Siri will search the phrase and open in the default browser.
Voice Recognition is available almost in all cars and it can perform user commands even it can start and stop your trips. Following is the MBUX Voice Control.
Amazon Alexa: It is a Virtual assistant in AI and act as a Home Automation System. It is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists , alarms, audio books, traffic, sports, weather, and other real-time info, such as news and many more. Amazon Go is the first store where no checkout is required. Customer simply enter the store using the Amazon Go app to browse and take the required products or items they want and then leave. Customer being able to purchase, products without suing a counter or checkout.
The following video shows how Self-driving Robot (Delivery Bot and named as YAPE) brings goods directly to you, it uses Facial Recognition to recognize the customer to deliver.
It makes delivery fast and easy, bot easily navigates sidewalks. YAPE has a 70 kg loading capacity and can travel 80km on a single charge. It uses computer vision, Sensor fusion to detect and avoid sidewalk edges, tracks or other abnormalities. Boston Dynamics is a well known company doing research on Robots.
It is widely used for recognition of faces in the organizations, apartments, Universities, Autonomous Driving, etc., for the authorized persons and for activities. It uses Computer Vision Concepts to recognize it. There are many applications of Face Recognition like phone unlock, Attendance, Authorized members, etc.,
It is every AI enthusiast dream to develop Autonomous Vehicle. It saves time and lives from accidents, as of now Level-5 SDC not yet come in the market. Lots of R&D is going to achieve without human driver. Almost all recognized Car companies trying to achieve Autonomous cars. You can conduct meetings, calls, lot can happen in Autonomous Vehicles.
It’s interior and exterior design is totally different when it reaches to Level-5. Almost all motor field companies spending and research on autonomous vehicles.
Drones can be used in various ways to deliver goods, for tracking, video scenes, agriculture fields, etc., These days we can deliver Medicines, emergency stuff, food in floods,etc., But due to security reasons national Governments has to approve before it to be used.
A Chatbot is an AI software that can simulate a conversation or a chat with a user in natural language through messaging applications, websites, mobile apps or through the telephone.
There are various diseases can be easily detected using AI and Deep Learning technologies. Diseases, such as Malaria, Cardiac Arrhythmia, Cancer Detection, Diabetic Retinopathy,Pneumonia Detection, etc.,
Recommendation systems are algorithms aimed at suggesting relevant items to users ( items being movies to watch, next to read, products or items to buy or anything else depending on industries). These systems are very help when marketing the products or items to the users.
Here two applications presented in this category , Autonomous Ship and Submersible Robot. Former developing by IBM.
IBM launched an AI-Powered marine-research vessel called the Mayflower Autonomous Ship. It will attempt to cross the Atlantic in spring 2021.
Mayflower Autonomous Ship will collect data on the ocean and marine life, including sampling for plastics.
IBM and ProMare announced an interactive website, the MAS400 portal that will provide live updates on the vessel’s whereabouts, environmental conditions, and other data.

Deep Ocean is such a place that is not only rich in sea life, vast swathes of it are also abundant in metals such as nickel, copper, cobalt, zinc which are very essential to making electronic and electronic items such as smartphones, electric vehicles, and solar panel parts.
It is a new, impressive example of the potential soft robotics has for helping humans reach harsh environments while causing a little environmental damage as possible.
These autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are more challenging than space exploration.
These days AI Enthusiasts developing various applications which meets intelligence in non-living objects. There are many applications coming in the market.
Artificial Intelligence is not limited , it is unlimited due to its property Intelligence. In the future , definitely and totally will change our life style. Due to the lack of computation power, there has been lot of applications on hold, if Quantum Computers are portable and mingled in all the ways definitely super intelligence will over come our struggles and works.
